Meetings are open to Splinter Group members and non-members alike. Traditionally meetings are held on Thursday evenings, approximately six weeks apart, usually in the central East Bay area (Berkeley and Oakland). The evening begins at with informal conversation, no-host bar, and sit-down dinner. Then the program is presented by the evening's host, followed by a lively questions, answers, and discussion.
Each meeting host has total responsibility for organizing and making all arrangements for the program, speakers, location, menu, cost, and announcement. Many meetings sell out, as some venues have limited seating capacity and other meetings, at larger venues, sell out due to content.
Members are notified by email approximately 3 weeks before the scheduled meeting. These announcements will give information about the program, location, speakers, dinner choices (meat or vegetarian), cost, and where to send your check. Only receipt of your check by the host guarantees a space at the meeting. Since many meetings reach their attendance limits, early response is recommended. There are no refunds if you can't attend, but you can send a substitute in your place. |
